brush, balance & Braun

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

A great way to find a few moments to literally practice balance in your life is to stand on one foot while you are brushing your teeth!

The general dental recommendation is to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes each. And, to also save water for the environment, it's best to not run the faucet.

So here's a way for a triple good habit:

Get your toothbrush watered and pasted up

Turn faucet off

Start the timer on your phone

Stand on one foot and brush for one minute

(Spit when you need to!)

Stand on other foot and brush for the second minute

Then rinse!

Start this health habit and your future self will be thankful (but maybe not your dentist - ha! Just kidding, they will be thrilled!). The better you can hone and strengthen both your balance and dental health, the less chances you will have for falling; and the better chances you will have to continue to eat healthy foods and fill yourself with nutrients, vitamins and minerals to keep your immune system strong!

To sneak in some exercises while brushing your teeth here are a few movements that can easily be done while simultaneously brushing your teeth:

  • Squats

  • Lunges

  • Calf raises

  • One-legged standing exercises (this is for Balance too!)

Modify any exercise as needed to maximize personal comfort and safety.

Here's to your Good Health!
